Because of the scattered nature of the Paschal families, I cannot at this time
provide the names of all my cousins born to my aunts and uncles. What little I have is
listed below.
Family Oral History or Franklin News and Banner, for what its worth.
Uncle "Bob" Purgason, was Emelia Elvira Purgason's elder brother. He was the last operator of Philpot's Ferry.
Uncle "Bob" Paschal, # 2841, William Nathan Paschal's brother was born in 1880 and died 1953 and is buried in the Franklin City Cemetery
Uncle Nathan Caswell was born 24 May 1894 and Died 29 Apr 1958 and lies beside his wife Seba Dell Paschal Caswell, in the Caswell Cemetery above the Franklin / US 27 bridge, on the north side of the Chatahoochee River.
Elizabeth "Jute" Eady, Aunt Mary Will Paschal Eady's daughter married Robert "Bobby" Nelms and had two sons Jerry and Mark, and a daughter named Catherine. They reside in Lagrange, Georgia.
Uncle Amos Caswell was ambushed and shot in the neck and arm with a shotgun by unknown persons 9 Apr 21 near Valley Grove Church, near Glenn Ga.
Amos Caswell and Elizabeth "Cat" Paschal had a daughter, Onnie. Onnie married Oliver Mcilhaney and they had four sons in Los Angeles and they later moved to Arkansas. Uncle Amos disappeared after his wife's death in California and whatever happened to him is still a mystery.
Uncle Nathan Caswell killed one man and severely wounded another on 2 Feb 1923 during a fight concerning moonshine liquor. The two men, one a Jeptha Paschal, and the other was a Harvey Gordon, attacked Nath striking him with iron bars, and so he gave them a taste of the knife. They all went to jail and were released on bail the next day.
Mr Paschal died of complications from the knifing shortly afterwards. On 30 Mar 1923 Uncle Nath Caswell was tried on murder charges. The charge was reduced from murder to manslaughter, and Nath got sentenced to 1 year on the Georgia chain gang.
Uncle Nath was killed in a land line feud on the border of his and Lee Awbrey's property. He died from gunshot wounds and Mr Lee was critically wounded but lived. Uncle Nath's Date of Death was 29 Apr 1958. I was six years old at that time.
Amos and Nathan Caswell were brothers.
In the May 1925 column of the News and Banner, for the Harmony Grove community, Louise Paschal was reported visiting, with one of her Purgason cousins.

Civil War History
James Paschal, #1291, was a member of Co K 56th Infantry and was a private in 12 May 1862. Born in Morgan County, Ga. 24 Dec 1828. He is mentioned in *Dr. G. W. Peddy's biography as becoming deathly sick with pneumonia, while his unit was in Kentucky, and he just barely survived. He served with his unit in the Kentucky Campaign and it later surrendered at the Battle of Vicksburg Ms. After being exchanged his unit participated in the Battle of Missionary Ridge and Chattanooga. He was in the battles north of, and including, the Battle of Atlanta. His unit, part of the Army of Tennessee, eventually surrendered on the 26th of April 1865 at Greensboro, NC. He is listed in the Ga. Roster of Soldiers and also the Georgia Pension Book.
* Saddlebags and Spinning Wheels a collection of letters between Dr. G.W. Peddy and his wife Kate, during the Civil War, compiled by his grandson G. W. Peddy Cuttino.
Littleton Daniel Paschal #1292, was in the 8th or 9th Mining Corp CSA and served in Tennessee at a saltpeter (niter) mine. He is listed in the Georgia Pension Book. The Paschal Family Web-site has him listed as a member of the Union Army. That is a grievous error.

Revolutionary War Family History as known locally.
According to the History of Heard County and its People: William Paschal
(died 1817?) of Wilkes County Ga. fought in the
Revolutionary War with Littleton Daniel. William later served
again in the War of 1812. William was the descendent of William
Paschall (1703 to 1774) of New Jersey. William's *nephew, Samuel Paschal,
#385,(Born Ga.1800) married Littleton's daughter Sarah (Born NC. 1806)
and came with his father-in-law to Morgan County, Georgia in 1817. They
came to Heard County in 1830. Samuel and Sarah had **22
children, some here in Heard County, Georgia. Samuel and his wife Sarah went on
to Hill County, TX and settled there. (**The existing family web-site says eighteen.) *In Linda Eller's Heard
County and its People, Samuel Paschal is listed as William Paschal's son.
Samuel is actually William's nephew if the web-site is accurate. Samuel's father was named
Samuel Paschal and he was married to Elizabeth Paschal, whom had been born in Ireland.
Great Grandfather James Madison Paschal, # 1291, was born in Morgan County and has 21 other brothers and sisters according to Heard County and its People. Littleton Daniel Paschal # 1292, who also settled in Heard County was the brother of James Paschal. Some other brothers and sisters were John and Isham and Mary. Only about ten of the siblings names are recorded here in Heard County. Some stayed here in Georgia and some went on to Texas and other places out west. Some were not known of locally until I saw their names on your web-site.

TSGT Preston Clovis Paschal - A distant cousin who paid the supreme sacrifice.
While doing research on the Samuel and Sarah Daniel Paschal Family that settled in Hill County, Texas, I came across the name Preston Clovis Paschal and noted that he had died on 6 Jun 1944. Anyone whom has a military background will realize the significance of that date automatically. It was D-Day. On his tombstone he is listed as a T/SGT and a member of the 741st Tank Battalion. The grave marker is located in the Covington Cemetery, Hill County, Texas.
I learned from research that Technical Sergeant Clovis Paschal had been a crew chief on a
Sherman DD (Floating) tank. He had been a member of Co "C" 741st tank battalion.
On launching, all of the tanks of Co "C" were sunk, either by enemy fire, or
lost to the treacherous cross currents off Omaha Beach. Only three tanks out of the
thirty-two in the battalion made it to shore.
TSGT Clovis Paschal was the son of Robert Lee Paschal whom was the son of Andrew J.

Eller's History
William Paschal and Littleton Daniel, who are freinds, fight together in the *Revolutionary War. William's *nephew Samuel of Wilkes County, Ga. marries Littleton's daughter Sarah and when Littleton leaves North Carolina for Georgia, around 1815, Samuel comes with him. They settle in Morgan County for several years and Samuel purchases 202 and a half acres from a Mr Shotwell in 1817. Both Littleton Daniel and Samuel Paschal come to Heard County in the 1830 land lottery. Over the years Samuel and Sarah have twenty-two children. Samuel and his wife would later leave Heard County and move to Texas and would settle there. Only a few names of their children who stayed in Heard County are known. James, Isham, Littleton Daniel and John Paschal are four of the men who lived out their lives in West Georgia. My ancestor James Paschal was born in 1828 while they were still living in Morgan County.
* It is also believed that William fought in the war of 1812.
*It was thought that Samuel was William Paschal's son. Eller's history list Samuel as William's son. The Paschal family web-site has shown that Samuel was actually William's nephew. Samuel's father had also been named Samuel Paschal.
Eller's History
1840 Heard County Census Samuel Paschal is listed living in the Redbone District of Heard County.
Eller's History/ Confederate Map
John and Isham Daniel, sons of Littleton Daniel, are listed as operating a water powered grist mill on New River in 1860.
Centralhatchee Creek was known as Sundalhatchee Creek on the 1863 CSA map of Heard County.
Georgia Business Directory 1879-1880
Jackson Merchant Mills - water powered- Howard M. Jackson president, is located in Owensbyville District, on the Chattahoochee River. This is how (I believe) Jackson Shoals got their name.
1891 Tax Digest James Paschal is listed in Texas District. Littleton Daniel Paschal is listed in Enon Grove District.
